Democracy and its implications from the perspective of Alain Touraine

Abstract
This essay aims to explain the implications and scope of democracy from the perspective of Alain Touraine. In this sense, it will be presented the importance and necessity for democracy to combine three dimensions that constitute democracy, namely, the limitation of power, representativeness, and citizenship. We will also highlight the concept of democratic culture, as it plays an important role in Touraine's understanding of democracy, starting from the conception of the individual capable of opposing absolute power, thus creating the democratic space that allows living in freedom. We believe that the topic of democracy is of utmost importance, especially when it is undergoing a serious crisis.
