Abstract

The purpose of this text is to carry out a philosophical analysis of the image. The image understood as a visual representation. The most appropriate way in which the philosopher is interested in the study of the image is insofar as it is an aesthetic phenomenon, and insofar as it is considered as an expression of language. Although we do not have the expertise to work in depth on the subject of aesthetics, much less that of language, our purpose is to make a first approach to the analysis of the image as an element that has the power to influence the perception of human beings, since the image communicates a certain type of discourse, which always has a significant effect on the way in which the human being relates to the world.

We intend to defend the thesis that the approach that a person or a group of people have towards a type of image, speaks of the way in which they perceive, interpret and experience the world, we also want to sustain that images invite or stimulate us to see in a certain way, which we intend to show through a concrete example: the group of people who like the works of the master Alfredo Vivero are people who tend to defend a discourse of decolonization and recovery of the knowledge and traditions of the roots Amerindian. In addition, these images have the power to educate us in the face of the pejorative judgments that are usually held by indigenous peoples. On the other hand, we will emphasize that the image has a communicative, religious, educational power and can even have an ethnographic value.
